Getting Started

A career in real estate has many benefits for those who are goal oriented, self motivated and have an entrepreneurial spirit. Few careers offer the freedom and unlimited earning potential that real estate does. It is very important, however, to affiliate with a real estate company that offers the training, support and leadership necessary for you to maximize your income, especially in the critical early years of your career.

Pre-License Education:

• Successful completion of a state accredited 90-hour broker pre-licensing course and examination.
• Courses conducted for an 8-week duration. Week night and weekend classes available.
• Tuition: $625 including two course text books.

License Testing:

• Successful completion of an Illinois examination with 75% or better score.
• Examination Fee: $49.

License Issuance:

• Affiliate your Brokers License with a Real Estate Brokerage firm of your choice.
• Pay $125 for initial license placement and pay bi-annual renewal fees of $100 on or before March 31 of odd-numbered years.

Continuing Education:

In order to maintain your Illinois real estate license, you must complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every 2 years. The fee for most 3-hour courses is $35.

Realtor Membership Application Fees

• Orientation Fee $500.00

Realtor Membership Criteria:

Members and Participants are required to attend a 2-1/2 day orientation at the Association office covering National Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors, and Rockford Area Association of Realtors Contracts, Agency, Fair Housing, and Multiple Listing Service computer software.

Realtor and MLS Annual Dues and Fees:

• National Association of Realtors (due in January) $64.00
• Illinois Association of Realtors (due in January) $99.00
• Rockford Area Association of Realtors (due in January) $100.00
• Multiple Listing Service $175.00 per quarter
• SUPRA Electronic Lock Box Key (due in October) $146.27
• SUPRA Electronic Lock Boxes $95.45 each
